The first 2 units of the second semester were used by the Year 10 students to work on wet media, creating abstract works in the form of Op Art and visual interpretation of music. Through the Op Art project they applied their knowledge of colour schemes and the concepts of Op Art. In music interpretation, they learned the psychological implications of colour, lines and shapes. They were then asked to visually interpret a song through a designed combination of the three elements.
Year 9 students took on Drawing module 3 on space. They learned the different ways to create Plastic Space (the illusion of space/depth on 2-D surface). They were then asked to study the way MC Escher created and played with space and apply the techniques learned to create their own Escher-inspired work.
Year 7 took on the topic of Landscape Modelling. This unit of study looked to gain experience in making models using Styrofoam. The students began the project by defining what they would do to solve the issue of a piece of property by a river that was too dangerous for an elderly man to use to go fishing and plant a garden. By completing this model the students are now capable of sculpting basic shapes in Styrofoam and to create a simple yet creative way of displaying learned knowledge for academic purposes. The students are now better equipped to make models for subjects such as Humanities and Science.
